Exciting New Affordable Housing Project Underway in National City

Today marked the official start of construction for Union Tower, a multi-family affordable housing project located at 2312 F Ave. This new community will provide 94 affordable homes, with a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. The development is particularly noteworthy for its commitment to veterans, with 24 apartments reserved specifically for veterans, offering wrap-around services such as case management and healthcare support.

Union Tower is the first phase of an ambitious eight-phase project that will bring much-needed affordable housing to National City. The County of San Diego has played a critical role in this development, investing $3.5 million from the Innovative Housing Trust Fund, alongside the allocation of 24 housing vouchers to keep these homes affordable for veterans and low-income families for years to come.

The location is ideal, nestled between Interstates 5 and 805, ensuring easy access to public transit, shopping, and other essential community resources. This project reflects a public-private partnership with organizations like Wakeland Housing and Development, the County of San Diego, National City, and various unions.

Construction is slated to be complete by spring 2027, with the Tenant Interest List opening in summer 2025.
